Dr. Asha Islam Nayeem is a Professor, for the last 30 years, at the Department of History, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Her area of research interest is Gender and History. She currently serves as the General Secretary of the International Federation for Research in Women’s History’s Bangladesh Chapter. Dr. Asha Islam is the editor of The Bangladesh History Association Journal and The Bangladesh Journal of American Studies. She has published extensively on women’s education in 19th and 20th century Bengal in peer-reviewed journals. Her forthcoming novel, From Andarmahal to Schools: Women’s Education in 19th and Early 20th Century Bengal, is set to be published by University Press Limited.

She is awaiting the publication of her forthcoming book titled, From Andarmahal to Schools: Women’s Education in 19th and Early 20th Century Bengal from University Press Limited.
